Certified Data Deletion

Old hard drives (HDDs and SSDs) that end up in the trash or are sold second-hand often still contain heaps of sensitive customer information and passwords. Brick9 overwrites the storage media using internationally recognized erasure algorithms (such as the Blancco or DoD standard). As a result, the data is permanently destroyed and reconstruction is technically impossible.

Under GDPR legislation, you must be able to prove during an audit that data from former customers or old systems has been correctly destroyed. For every hard drive or computer we wipe, we generate a tamper-proof data erasure certificate (including serial numbers and erasure method). This ensures you are immediately 100% compliant and covered during audits.

When a hard drive crashes or is physically defective, software-based removal no longer works, while the data on the magnetic media or chips remains intact. For these critical situations, we employ physical destruction (degaussing or shredding). The media is completely reduced to tiny shreds, also covered by a destruction certificate.

Simply discarding IT hardware is harmful to the environment and does not fit within a modern CSR policy. After certified data erasure, Brick9 ensures environmentally friendly recycling of the materials (in accordance with WEEE guidelines). Where possible, we arrange for safe refurbishment, so that equipment gets a sustainable second life.
